We want more trustees!  We’re at 10 very capable, very involved trustees right now.  It’s a great place to be, but we’re falling into some standard patterns.  Patterns are great, if you’re not awesome, but our take on patterns is that they’re meant to be broken.  We can’t do it without introducing new ideas into the group.  We want YOU to bring those ideas to our awesome table.  What does it mean to be a trustee?  A few things:

1) If you leave, you promise to find another trustee to fill your place so we never fall below 10
2) You commit to contributing $100 a month towards an awesome “grant”
3) You’ll attend our monthly meetings (every third Saturday at 10am in an undisclosed Loop location)
4) You have lots of ideas, but love consensus

If you’re interested, drop us a line at chicago@awesomefoundation.org, post a comment on this blog, or tweet us at @chicagoawesome.  Make sure you understand the 4 trustee requirements above, and let us know why you’d make a great trustee!  We’ll get back to you pretty quick…looking forward to hearing from everyone!

What are the exact responsibilities of a trustee? What makes for an awesome trustee?

Sorry for the delay in responding!

Responsibilities: contribute $100 per month, attend monthly trustee meetings (usually Saturday mornings at 10am), attend occasional meetings with grantees (to disperse funds, support their projects, etc.), spread the word about the Awesome Foundation when/where ever possible, help with various tasks that need doing (PR, website, social media, photography, video, graphic design, etc. – depending on your skill set and interests).

Awesome trustees are passionate about the projects we fund and about the Foundation itself. That’s about all it takes …

What you’re doing is really great guys. I’m living in SF now but I might be moving back to Chicago in the fall or early next year. Would love to get involved in this.
