Layin’ Down Tracks

Awesome Chicago is pleased to introduce its grantee for the month of June: Dyan Flores. Working with her class of weird, smart, awesome, hilarious, clever, punk-ass fourth and fifth-graders Dyan is planning to write and record a rap concept album.  A mild-mannered arts educator such as Dyan might appear to be an unusual choice to spearhead a rap concept album, but she’s not to be underestimated: Dyan spits rhymes like dragons spit fire.

In her application for the grant Dyan confessed that the first thing she plans to do with the $1000 in unmarked small bills is spread them out on her bed and roll around in them.  But after that she promises she’ll get right to work with her kids.
