The Awesome Foundation started in the summer of 2009 in Boston with a simple goal: putting our modest incomes to work making our community awesomer.

We all have friends and acquaintances that have brilliant ideas that could dazzle, stun, amaze, and/or stupefy if they were able to turn their ideas into a reality.

The Awesome Foundation helps turn your awesome ideas into awesome realities. Every month we choose a great idea, put $1,000 of our own money on the line, and watch while someone turns that $1,000 into something that makes our community a little more awesome.

After the success of the Boston Awesome Foundation, the Chicago chapter of the Awesome Foundation formed in the spring of 2011, and we awarded our first grant in July 2011.
